Youth Council members wanted

Posted on 09 May 2013
The museum opened its new Open Learning Centre in July 2012. This extension has expanded the space that the museum has for displays, educational work and storage. Young people are a crucial element in any vibrant and forward-looking organisation.

The Youth Council brings the ideas and voices of young people into the way the museum is run. The museum wants to involve young people in making positive contributions to many types of museum work; this could be curatorial, marketing, conservation, outreach and other areas. Ultimately providing new insights and changing young people’s attitudes to the museum.

So anyone aged 13 to 19 years who lives locally to the museum (within a 10 mile radius) please get in touch if you would like to:

See behind the scenes at the museum;
See the ideas and projects you have worked on become part of the museum’s displays;
See your own lives represented;
Be involved in a wide range of exciting opportunities;
Meet a new and interesting group of people;
Attend social events;
Have your time on the Council on your Record of Achievement;
Have the chance to achieve new practical skills, including research, problem solving, design and interpretation;
Gain qualifications - Artsmark Award - you can cite your membership when applying for a university place.

This project has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
