The last few months have seen many changes for Wimborne Tourist Information Centre.
The last few months have seen many changes for Wimborne Tourist Information Centre. Not least has been its successful move to its temporary location while refurbishment works are carried out in the museum.
The information centre and its team of volunteers, led by Manager Lindsay Lawrence, can be found next to Wimborne Library in the museum’s Hilda Coles Open Learning Centre. Its contents and fixtures and fittings have been moved and installed here during the works.
It is a treasure trove of locally sourced food and drink, handcrafted gifts and pocket money treats. Whether customers are looking for a special present or something to remind them of their visit to Wimborne, there is plenty to choose from.
To help visitors make the most of a visit to East Dorset, it offers a wealth of free local information alongside books and maps to purchase.
The information centre can also book day trips out with several local coach day trip companies and National Express.
Located right next door is the museum’s Garden Tea Room. Here visitors can discover the museum’s hidden walled garden in the centre of bustling Wimborne.
They can relax with a freshly ground coffee or a pot of tea and a delicious slice of cake. Light savoury snacks and warming soup are also on the menu.
The museum is currently offering free entry to its garden and tearoom during the refurbishment works.
The friendly and knowledgeable teams of volunteers are on hand to welcome visitors and customers.
The information centre will return to its High Street location in early 2020.
On Wednesday 27 November 2019 from 4.00pm to 8.00pm the Tourist Information Centre is holding 'A Christmas Shopping Evening'. Visitors can drop in for a festive shopping experience of Dorset delights. Local food and drink, gin tasting, artisan gifts and a local book signing. There will be a complimentary glass of mulled wine on arrival.
For further information please contact the information centre on 01202 886116.
The information centre, shop, tearoom and museum will be closed for the foreseeable future in light of the current government advice.
Please donate your books to the Priests House Museum second hand book shop. This is a great way to support your local community and all proceeds fund projects within the Museum.
