Classical Guitar Concert

A fun, festive concert with the Dorset Guitar Society.

The museum invites you to a fun, festive 'Classical Guitar Concert' with the Dorset Guitar Society on Saturday 1 December 2018 at 7.30pm.

The programme for the evening will include orchestral performances of the Bohm Guitar Concerto and Capriol Suite. To help you get into the festive spirit there will also be some variations on well known Christmas carols.

Formed in 1984 the Dorset Guitar Society is one of the largest classical guitar orchestras in the UK, with over 20 members. It stages a number of charity concerts each year throughout Dorset and Hampshire.

Its strong core of semi-professional players – including guitar tutors and classical guitar enthusiasts – enable the orchestra to perform a range of orchestral ensemble, quartet, trio, duet and solo compositions.

The guitar society is also privileged to be under the musical direction of Grant Bocking, previously Director of Music at Queen Elizabeth's School in Wimborne. As a result the orchestra has a wide performance repertoire including classical concertos, through to traditional Spanish compositions and contemporary material.

Tickets priced at £7 (including a glass of wine and a mince pie) are available from Wimborne Tourist Information Centre or on 01202 886116. Booking is essential.

Proceeds will be shared between the guitar society and museum.
