Tommy's Sisters

A live performance will take place at the premiere of a short film, Tommy's Sisters – Five Women in 1916, at the museum on Friday, November 11 at 7.30pm, as part of the museum's 'The One Hundred Year Heritage of the First World War for Wimborne and East Dorset' project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The museum is holding a talk on 'Lace in Dorset – its history, manufacture and use' with Liz Pass, on Tuesday 18 October, 7.30pm. Liz will give an illustrated talk on the history of lace in Europe, its manufacture in Dorset towns and its use on furnishings and clothing by those who could afford it.

Wonderful Wednesdays

A hidden treasure in the centre of Wimborne is the Garden Tea Room at the museum. Access to the tea room will be free for any tea room customers every Wednesday from 21 September to 19 October 2016. There is a separate admission charge for visitors to the house and museum.

My Life and Times at Harrods

A fund raising event organised by the Mayor of Wimborne, Cllr Sue Cook, supporting her chosen charities will take place at the museum. Entitled 'My life and times at Harrods...and other tales! - an evening with Robin Cook'. A humorous account of his life in the retail trade, much of which was spent working at the world famous store, promises to be an entertaining evening. The talk is on Friday 2 September in the Hilda Coles Open Learning Centre at the museum commencing at 7.30pm. Tickets £10, to include a glass of wine and canapes, are strictly limited. Heritage Lottery Fund support announced

The museum has been awarded £145,200 by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to enable it to develop its 'Revival' project proposal which will ensure that the museum is fit for the challenges of the 21st century. The museum now has 12 months in which to finalise detailed plans and submit a Round 2 application.

First World War Conference

The museum is holding a First World War conference on Saturday 20 August, 9.30 to 4.30 at the Wimborne Community Learning and Resource Centre. The theme will be the 'Interpretation, Commemoration and Memory of the First World War by the Community'. The conference is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Lost in Time

The Priest's House Theatre Company presents 'Lost in Time' at the museum on Monday 15 August at 4.00 (doors open 3.30). When Tanya visits her local museum, she finds herself caught up in a series of dramatic encounters, some funny, some mysterious, some downright scary! Tickets are priced at £3 (children FREE) with limited tickets available on the door (first come, first served). Part of 'Sting in the Tale - A Festival of Stories'.

The Friends of the Priest's House Museum are holding the annual Summer Fete at the museum in Wimborne on Saturday 6 August, 10.00 to 4.00. Jam-packed with fantastic stalls and activities, it's a fun day out for the whole family topped off with a performance of 'Beowulf' by Rattlebox Theatre and live music from the fabulous local ukulele group, Skittle Alley Strummers.
