Museum Memories

Posted on 20 Apr 2015
The museum is organising a monthly reminiscence session. The programme is funded by POPP (Dorset Partnership for Older People Project) and supported by the Alzheimer's Society. The next session will be held on Monday 27 April, 2.15 to 3.30. The last Monday in January saw the first Museum Memories reminiscence session for people with dementia and their carers. Anne Brown, Learning & Community Outreach Officer, said: "The hour and a half flew by as we shared stories and memories linked to the museum objects we had brought out for everyone to see and hold. From ration books to radios we covered a whole range of topics and enjoyed an afternoon of anecdote and fun." The sessions use objects from the collections, giving participants the opportunity to recall and share their memories of the past. There will be something for everyone! Admission is £1.50 per participant and includes refreshments. Booking is advisable as places are limited. For further information or to book a place please contact Anne Brown at the museum. Museum Memories will be on the last Monday of the month throughout 2015, excluding Bank Holidays.
