Uniforms for All

Posted on 25 Apr 2014
'Uniforms for All' is a new exhibition at the museum, and runs until the 11 November. The exhibition is based on the theme of uniforms. It includes items from the second world war, not forgetting Dad's Army, school uniform and the splendid black velvet regalia of a High Sheriff complete with small sword. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Boy Scout movement formed in 1908 and still going strong. Also to the Brownies who celebrate their 100th anniversary this year. Distinctive clothing can be worn as a way of recognising a person as a member of a particular group. This could be a school, team, club, regiment or public service organisation. Some uniforms are governed by strict rules and regulations. These can be tradition or for practical reasons. 'Uniforms for All' is kindly sponsored by Bartletts School Wear and Berties Country, both local businesses in Wimborne. The museum is open Monday to Saturday, 10 to 4.30. There is an admission charge. For further information please contact the museum.
