Posted on 16 Feb 2016
The museum is an inspiring place to visit this half term, open from 10.00 to 3.30 each day (closed Sundays). Admission charges apply. Discover the museum's stunning Roman wall paintings, the fascinating childhood gallery and a unique Victorian Valentine card collection as the museum tells the story of East Dorset. Explore period rooms from a 17th century hall to the working Victorian kitchen, finding out how life and work has changed in this historic townhouse. Wander through a beautiful and peaceful walled garden, with flowering borders, lawns and heritage fruit trees leading down to the mill stream. The Garden Tea Room, where visitors can relax and enjoy a refreshing drink, delicious cakes, cream tea and a selection of light savoury snacks, will be open. The exhibition 'For Home and Country - 100 Years of the Women's Institute' has been extended until 4 June. The exhibition charts the development of the organisation from supporting food production during the first world war to its ongoing campaigns to improve the life of communities. Throughout the week 'Sally's Holiday Activities' will offer a range of self-directed craft activities with a Victorian Valentine card theme as part of a visit.
