The museum will help visitors get into the Christmas spirit this December with a programme of festive events. From the 7 to 23 December (excluding Saturday 12 December), Monday to Saturday 10.00 to 3.00, visitors will be able to celebrate the Christmas period with free admission to the museum. The house and Garden Tea Room will be festively decorated, while the current special exhibitions, 'For Home and Country – 100 Years of the Women's Institute' and 'Treasured Mementos', will be open. Visitors will be able to indulge in delicious cakes, mince pies, soup and other festive treats in the Garden Tea Room. On Thursday 10 December the museum will be holding a 'Late Night Christmas Opening' from 5.00 to 8.00, admission free. The decorated period rooms will be open along with the exhibition galleries, while the Garden Tea Room will be serving warming seasonal refreshments. The museum gift shop will inspire visitors with a selection of Christmas gift ideas. At 6.30 and 7.30 there will be a performance of festive poems and readings. Throughout December the museum gift shop will be open Monday to Saturday 10.00 to 3.00 until 23 December. There will be plenty of inspiration for Christmas presents and stocking fillers with a range of traditional toys and games. Gifts include toy trains, yoyos, slide whistles, skipping ropes, classic children’s card games, racing gliders kits, Snakes and Ladders, and much more.
