Archaeology of the Sacred

Posted on 12 Nov 2015
The museum is organising an archaeology day school on Saturday 21 November, 9.30 to 4.00. The course tutor will be Dr Wendelin Morrison. The day school is an opportunity to delve into different expressions of the sacred past, both in Britain and across the globe. Through a day of lectures, discussion, group work and a chance to handle some of the museum's collections, participants will learn about how archaeologists interpret ancient sacred sites, objects, and funerary and burial practices. The course will also offer insight into the importance of conserving and protecting archaeology of a sacred nature, from World Heritage Sites to small local collections. Places on the course are priced at £25. Tickets are available from Wimborne Tourist Information Centre or on 01202 886116. For further information please contact the museum.
