Walking the Wall

Posted on 02 Sep 2015
In mid-September one of the Trustees of the Priest's House Museum & Garden in Wimborne Minster, Rachel Limb, will be walking the full length of the Hadrian's Wall National Path in aid of the Priest's House Museum Trust. Starting in the east at Wallsend the route will take Rachel west through Newcastle and Gateshead across the country, crossing up and over the Pennines, to Bowness on Solway. This historic and scenic route is 84 miles long and Rachel and her husband Paul, together with a friend, have just four days to conquer the wall! As a new Trustee, Rachel was keen to do something to support the museum and, with its wonderful collection of Roman artefacts, Hadrian's Wall seemed a natural fit. The museum is currently raising funds to support the refurbishment of the house and exhibitions. An online fundraising page is being set up so anyone wishing to support Rachel and the museum can donate via this or drop in to the museum and leave a donation. For fun the museum is also running a prize competition to see if anyone can guess how long it will take, in hours and minutes, to complete this staggering (literally!) trek. The winner will enjoy a wonderful short break in a new lodge overlooking the stunning Jurassic Coast near West Bay, courtesy of West Dorset Leisure Holidays ( So pop in to the museum and get your guestimates in now to be in with a chance of winning this fabulous prize! For further information please contact the museum.
