Posted on 25 Aug 2015
The museum is launching the new 'East Dorset First World War' database and website on Saturday 29 August. This initiative is part of the museum's project 'The One Hundred Year Heritage of the First World War for Wimborne and East Dorset', which is running throughout the period marking the centenary of the war, and will give local people the chance to research the effect of the war across the district. The project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. From 12.00 to 3.00 on Saturday 29 August and 11.00 to 3.00 on Monday 31 August the museum is keen to hear from members of the public who have information, stories or items that can help build a picture of what the people of East Dorset did during the first world war. If anyone is interested in researching a family member's involvement in the conflict and would like help discovering more, please visit the museum on either of these days. Entry to the museum will be free for visitors attending the event to share their information or for research assistance. For further information please contact the museum.
