Winter opening times and Christmas Emporium

Posted on 08 Nov 2013
The museum has announced new winter opening times from 4 November to 21 December (closed 11-12 November), Monday to Saturday 10.30 to 3.30.

Visitors can discover the stories of East Dorset’s villages, the fascinating childhood gallery and a unique Victorian Valentine card collection. They can explore period rooms from a 17th century hall to the working Victorian kitchen, finding out how life and work has changed in this historic townhouse. It is also a chance to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our beautiful walled garden, which features heritage fruit trees and a glimpse of the River Allen. The garden tearoom will also be open, where visitors can relax and enjoy a refreshing drink, a selection of delicious cakes, homemade soup and other refreshments. Admission charges apply.

The annual Christmas Emporium in the museum shop will open on the 13 November. Take a trip down memory lane and discover the toys of your childhood and much more. Shoppers will discover an ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of unusual presents and stocking fillers. Christmas stamps can be purchased, some of the money from which goes towards the work of the museum. The Christmas Emporium will be open Monday to Saturday 10.30 to 3.30, up until and including Christmas Eve (closing 2pm on Christmas Eve).
