Finding Pitt-Rivers

Posted on 26 Jun 2015
The Friends of the Priest's House Museum invite you to a talk on 'Finding Pitt-Rivers' by Jane Ellis-Schön on Tuesday 28 July, 7.30pm in the Hilda Coles Open Learning Centre at the museum. Salisbury Museum holds the Pitt-Rivers Wessex Collection, a range of archaeological material that includes all the excavated material from Cranborne Chase, along with some material from Hampshire, London, Surrey, Sussex and Yorkshire from the earlier part of his career. This material was originally part of Pitt-Rivers' second collection at Farnham on Cranborne Chase where it was on display in his museum and focuses on the last 20 years of his life. Jane Ellis-Schön is the Project Curator for Salisbury Museum's 'Finding Pitt-Rivers' Project funded by Arts Council England. Jane's talk will highlight objects from Dorset in the Pitt-Rivers collections and introduce the project. Tickets are available from the Wimborne Tourist Information Centre or on 01202 886116 priced at £6, including refreshments (booking is essential).
